PAs must complete 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and take a re-certification exam every six years. Are you living your life's work? **Position Description** : The **Cost Accountant** position is responsible for the maintenance of the cost accounting function of the McKesson Performance Analytics Decision Support System (DSS) for four hospitals and two physician groups at UPHS. This includes RVU development and maintenance, maintenance of the DSS cost manager utility, maintenance of net patient revenue profiles, and the development of audit reports. **Primary Responsibilities include:** • Assist the department director in the coordination and maintenance of the cost accounting system in the McKesson Performance Analytics decision support system. • Ensure accurate alignment of costs from the general ledger with activity from the patient accounting system in the decision support system. This includes building and maintaining cost accounting structures; maintenance and revision of the assignment of general ledger cost centers and accounts to direct, indirect, fixed, and variable cost components within the McKesson system; building and maintaining cost allocation tables and statistics. • Perform quarterly uploads of general ledger data and interface with decision support encounter data. • Ensure accurate loading of general ledger data, RVUs, and statistics. • Assist in the development and maintenance of business rules to estimate net patient revenue and encounter level in the DSS system. • Perform reconciliations and audits and investigate anomalies, errors and variances. • Maintain documentation of costing and reconciliation processes. • Provide cost data to support financial analyses as requested. **Minimum Requirements** : **Education/Experience:** • Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration. • 2 years’ of health care cost accounting (or translatable experience such as cost reporting) and decision support systems. • Experience with Horizon Performance Manager preferred. **Skills and Abilities Required:** • Access skills preferred. • Advanced Excel skills required. • Demonstrated analytical skills. • Strong analysis and problem solving skills and be able to independently arrive at innovative solutions. • Excellent communication skills including the ability to translate technical topics into layperson’s terms. **Additional Information** : We believe that the best care for our patients starts with the best care for our employees.
